The 36-year-old Colts receiver is going back to the playoffs as a division champion. TORONTO -- Captain Tyler Ardron will lead a strong Canadian squad for Junes rugby internationals against Japan, Scotland and the U.S. In addition to the back-row forward from Lakefield, Ont., coach Kieran Crowleys 26-man squad includes overseas pros Hubert Buydens, Aaron Carpenter, Jamie Cudmore, Jeff Hassler, Tyler Hotson, Jason Marshall, Taylor Paris, James Pritchard, Jebb Sinclair and DTH Van der Merwe. "Its probably the first time for a while weve had most of the players available for selection." Crowley said in an interview Sunday. Canada, ranked 15th in the world, is training in Burnaby, B.C., in advance of Saturdays Pacific Nations Cup match against Japan, which is expected to move to No. 12 in the next rankings, at Swangard Stadium. The Canadian men take on No. 10 Scotland at Torontos BMO Field on June 14 before facing the 18th-ranked U.S. Eagles on May 21 in Pacific Nations play in Sacramento. Canada is missing props Doug Wooldridge and Tom Dolezel and backs Nathan Hirayama and Matt Evans, who are coming back from injury. Japan is on a high, having just qualified for the 2015 World Cup and fresh from a 33-14 win over No. 8 Samoa. The Brave Blossoms have won seven straight, including a 42-17 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield last November. "Theyre knocking on the door of the top 10 in the world," said Crowley. "Theyve poured a lot of money into their game. Theyre obviously wanting to get it to the highest possible position before they host the World Cup in 2019." The roster announcement followed Saturdays trials match that saw a B.C. invitational team edge the Canada Select 27-26 in West Vancouver. "Certainly a very competitive game which showed that we are actually a little bit of depth there," said Crowley. That depth is shown by the fact that winger Phil MacKenzie of Englands Sale Sharks was not selected for the test roster. Crowley and the Canada selectors opted for Taylor Paris, Jeff Hassler and Van der Merwe. "Theres three specialist wingers there, so its a case of the quality of players in that area are very very strong. For this particular selection, we left Phil out. But there was a fair bit of debate around that area, as there was around a couple of other areas as well, particcularly the midfield. Anthony Hitchens Jersey. quot; Hassler, who scored seven tries in his first season with Wales Ospreys, was named to the RaboDirect Pro 12 team of the season. The Pro 12 league features teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Gordon McRorie, a Scottish scrum half who has qualified to play for Canada, makes the 26-man squad and will join veteran Phil Mack at No. 9. His play in the trials match helped him leapfrog Sean White. Crowley has questions in the back row due to an abundance of talent, even with Carpenter shifting from No. 8 to hooker. "Our challenge will be to get the balance right," said Crowley. Ardron, named captain Sunday for the June internationals, will lead the back row. John Moonlight, Nanyak Dala and Adam Kleeberger are coming off Canadas fine sevens season. And veteran Jebb Sinclair can play either in the back row or second row, if needed. ANAHEIM, Calif. Garrett Grayson Jersey . - Hockey fans in Orange County are used to watching one powerful line dominate games with size, speed and a slick scoring touch.Nick Bjugstad, Brad Boyes and Jonathan Huberdeau were that dominant line for the Florida Panthers on Sunday night, much to the embarrassment of Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and the Anaheim Ducks.Bjugstad had two goals and two assists, and Boyes scored twice during the Panthers four-goal second period in a 6-2 victory.Huberdeau and Vincent Trocheck also scored as Florida opened a four-game road trip with a stunning blowout of the West-leading Ducks. Jussi Jokinen and Brian Campbell had two assists apiece in the highest-scoring performance of the season by the Panthers, who had an NHL-low 27 goals entering the game.It was just one of those games where everything was clicking, and we were all working hard, said Bjugstad, who had the highest-scoring game of his young career. We knew what we were up against, and we were up to the challenge. That was exciting.Boyes ended an eight-game goal drought and scored his 450th career point, adding an assist while staking Florida to a five-goal lead in the third period. He combined for nine points with Bjugstad and Huberdeau, who also had an assist.Al Montoya made 33 saves for the Panthers, who hadnt won in Anaheim since Nov. 9, 2008.It was an archetypal trap game for the Ducks, who faced Florida between a home-and-home set with the archrival Los Angeles Kings and two upcoming Pacific Division games in western Canada. The Panthers made sure the Ducks fell straight into the snare.(Anaheim) played yesterday in Los Angeles and had a tough, emotional game, Florida coach Gerard Gallant said. We caught them a little bit flat, for sure.Hampus Lindholm and Andrew Cogliano scored for the Ducks, whose seven-game points streak ended in their fifth loss in six games despite the return of Perry, who missed the previous five games with mumps.I felt better than I expected, but it didnt go the way we planned for anybody, said Perry, the NHLs first star for October. It was an off night for all of us. Theyve got some speed and some firepower over there, and they showed it tonight.Kyle Palmieri also made his season debut for the Ducks, who had gone to overtime in their last five games, setting a franchise record. They couldnt keep it close after Frederik Andersen gave up three goals on Floridas first nine shots, getting chased for the second time in three games. No one in this room was ready, starting from the net on out, said Andersen, who returned for the third period after Jason LaBarbera gave up two more goals. Thats unacceptable in this league, and we paid for it.Anaheims improved defence has yielded 14 goals in three games, culminating with an inept effort that the Ducks didnt blame on their goalies.I think were just embarrassed, Getzlaf said. Its embarrassing to play like that in our building. Top to bottom, we werent very good. We emotionally werent there. We didnt make any plays that we needed to do.Palmieri returned after sitting out 18 games with a sprained ankle, but injury-plagued Anaheim still is without defenceman Francois Beauchemin, who missed his fourth game with mumps, while Tim Jackman missed the game with the flu. After Trocheck and Lindholm traded goals in the first period, Boyes put the Panthers back ahead early in the second when a sharp pass from Huberdeau deflected off his skate. Bjugstad chased Andersen moments later with a sharp-angled shot.NOTES: Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu watched the game from a luxury suite. TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted Monday morning that Callahan - who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, is now open to a six-year contract at less than $7 million per season. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun added that his asking price on his average annual salary is less than $6.5 million. GLENDALE, Ariz. Florida Panthers Jerseys . -- Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer knows what his teams personality has become. And it has nothing to do with his side of the ball. "Were a tough, grind-it-out defensive team," he said. That was apparent on the first play from scrimmage against Houston on Sunday, when the Cardinals forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. It was a sign of what would come in the second half. The Cardinals turned up the defensive pressure and sent the Texans to their franchise-record seventh straight loss, 27-24 Sunday. Palmer threw two touchdown passes and Arizona held on despite a late fumble. The Texans (2-7) were without coach Gary Kubiak, who collapsed on the sideline against Indianapolis last Sunday night with what was diagnosed as a mini-stroke. Defensive co-ordinator Wade Phillips is filling in as interim coach. "All in all it seems like the same theme," Phillips said. "Team is playing tremendously hard but not enough plays. One play here, one play there, and they really dominated us in the second half on their defensive side of the ball." Arizona (5-4) got off to a quick start when linebacker John Abraham knocked the ball out of quarterback Case Keenums arm and Matt Shaughnessy returned it 6 yards for a touchdown only 14 seconds into the game. The Texans led 17-14 at the break, but managed just 41 yards in the final two quarters "As a defence, we just told ourselves 17 is the max," linebacker Daryl Washington said. "No more points to be scored. Lets play nasty, lets play dirty." Keenum threw three touchdown passes, two on remarkable catches by Andre Johnson. J.J. Watt forced two fumbles, recovering both of them for Houston. The second one set up Johnsons 5-yard TD catch that cut the lead to three with 4:34 to play. "We made good adjustments," Arizona coach Bruce Arians said of the second half. "The running game was kind of gone. We felt if we could get them in a one-dimension game we could get after the quarterback, and we were able to do that." Palmer completed 20 of 32 for 241 yards. Keenum was 22 of 43 for 201 yards no interceptions, but was just 7 for 17 for 42 yards in the second half. Arizona reeled off 13 consecutive points and Palmers 19-yard touchdown pass to Andre Roberts put Arizona up 27-17 with 6:42 to play. The Cardinals, coming off a bye, had trouble holding on. Rashard Mendenhall was stripped of the ball by Watt in a crowd on a run up the middle and the standout Houston lineman recovered at the Arizona 5. On third down, Johnson gathered in Keenums pass and was able to get both feet inbounds for the touchdown. He had scored on a similar catch in the first quarter. "Those were two of the best catches I have ever seen in my life," Keenum said. "You cant even describe it. You have to watch it to see how awesome those catches are. " Houston got the ball back with just over two minutes to play but, at third-and-3 at the 35, Keenum threw two incompletions. Jerraud Powers knocked the ball away from receiver DeAndre Hopkins on fourth down to seal the win. After his first-play miscue, Keenum completed 4 of 4 for 44 yards in an eight-play, 49-yard drive. Johnson got his left foot down then barely dragged his right foot inbounds on a 7-yard touchdown catch and it was 7-all. Arizona regained the lead with its only touchdown drive of the first half. Recently signed tight end Jake Ballard had a 15-yard catch, his first reception since 2011, and Rob Housler got his first pro touchdown catch on a 12-yard screen pass to put the Cardinals up 14-7 with 13:57 left in the half. It was Palmers 200th career touchdown pass. But Keenum responded, going 5 for 6 for 55 yards in a nine-play, 80-yard TD drive. Keenum threw 2 yards to wide open tight end Ryan Griffin for the touchdown that tied it at 14-14 with 9:37 left in the half. Arizona was pinned deep in its own territory after the subsequent kickoff and Palmer tried to throw long to Housler. But D.J. Swearinger intercepted, setting up Randy Bullocks 48-yard field goal that gave Houston its first lead, 17-14, with 6:31 to go in the half. Arizona committed another turnover late in the second quarter. With less than a minute left in the half, Watt knocked the ball out of Palmers hands and recovered at the Cardinals 22. Houston couldnt move it from there, and Justin Bethel blocked Bullocks 40-yard field goal attempt. Bethel has two blocked field goals this season. Arizona tied it at 17 on Jay Feelys 35-yard field goal with 6:06 left in the third quarter. Palmers 26-yard pass to Housler gave Arizona a first-and-goal at the Houston 5 in the final seconds of the third quarter. Feelys 21-yarder put Arizona back on top 20-17 entering the fourth quarter. NOTES: The Texans were without running back Arian Foster and wont have him the rest of the season after he decided to undergo season-ending back surgery. When it comes to the rookie outfielder making the All-Star team, thats causing some debate. The Los Angeles Dodgers phenom keeps setting records to start his career, winning NL player of the month on Wednesday to become the first player to capture the award in his inaugural month in the majors since it was started in 1958. The 22-year-old slugger also captured the NL rookie of the month award by hitting .436 with seven homers and 16 RBIs in June. His 44 hits were a Dodgers rookie record for a month. Hes been so sizzling at the plate that some are talking about putting him on the NL team for the All-Star game. The idea has sparked some conversation throughout baseball. Philadelphia Phillies reliever Jonathan Papelbon recently aired his opinion in an interview with MLB Network Radio. "To me, its an absolute joke," Papelbon told the network. "The guys got a month. "Just comparing him to this and that, and saying hes going to make the All-Star team, thats a joke to me." Puig takes it all in stride. He said recently through his translator that he really doesnt care if he plays in the game. "If the fans vote for me, thats OK," said Puig, who signed a $42 million, seven-year contract last summer. Nothing Puig accomplishes on the field anymore really comes as a shoock to Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, who has seen just about everything from the Cuban defector and simply expects it now. Chad Kelly Jersey. . No really, he does. "Youre getting to be where you kind of expect him to do something all the time," said Mattingly, who compares his slugger to a young Ken Griffey Jr. "If he doesnt get a hit or get on base, youre like, Whats going on? Its amazing." Puig is only the fifth player to win both awards in the same month since the rookie honour was introduced in 2001. The last player to accomplish the feat was Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout in July 2012. "Whatever league that Im in Im going to do the best I can," Puig said Tuesday after going 3 for 5 with a homer to begin July just as torrid as he left off in June. Puig certainly left quite an impression on Rockies reliever Adam Ottavino, who served up his solo homer on Tuesday. Ottavino tried to throw a slider low and away to Puig, only to have him hit it over the fence in the deepest part of Coors Field. "Its not a pitch you get hit for a home run that often. It was impressive," Ottavino said. "Hes so strong. Thats evident. I really dont think he got all of it and it went really far. "When he hit it, I saw his bat flip, so I knew he thought he got it. I didnt think he got it. When I turned around, I was like, Oh, yeah, I guess he did get it." ATLANTA -- Paul Millsap knows the Atlanta Hawks wont have an easy time replacing Al Horford. Kony Ealy Jersey . Even so, Millsap was proud that the Hawks held together despite the absence of their leading scorer and rebounder. "Everybodys still a little shocked about the situation," Millsap said. "You could tell. Als a big part of what we do, but once we shook it off, guys just got out there and played ball." Millsap scored a season-high 33 points, Lou Williams scored 10 of his season-best 28 points in overtime and the Hawks rallied to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 118-116 on Saturday night. Al Jefferson had 24 points and a season-high 23 rebounds, and Gerald Henderson added 22 points for Charlotte. Playing their first game since Horford suffered a torn pectoral muscle, the Hawks trailed by 14 after Henderson hit a 20-foot fadeaway jumper with 4:19 left in the third quarter. But Atlanta, which has won two straight and five of six, rallied to force overtime when backup centre Pero Antic made a one-legged 3-pointer from the right wing with 3.1 seconds left in regulation. "Its going to take some time to learn to play without Al," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. "We have to get everybody comfortable, to keep the ball moving, to know where the spots are. I thought our start was OK, actually." Jeff Teague finished with 20 points and nine assists for the Hawks. Mike Scott added 18 points, and Millsap pulled down 13 rebounds. The Bobcats, who have lost two straight and three of four, didnt trail again in regulation after Ben Gordons 3 from the left corner made it 86-84. Antics shot while moving away from the basket made it 101-all and the game went to overtime when Hendersons fadeaway jumper bounced off the rim at the buzzer. Jefferson bemoaned that Antic was able to get the ball in a scramble and score his only points of the game. "My guy hit a shot fake, going left, off one leg, a 3-point shot to tie the game," Jefferson said. "I mean, what can you say? Its part of the game, I guess. It hurts, though." In the final minute of OT, Millsap hit a pair of free throws to make it 108-all, Kemba Walker missed a wild shot for Charlotte and Williams hit two foul shots to give Atlanta the lead for good at 110-108. Williams made all 10 foul shots in overtime. There were five lead changes in the first half and five in the second half. Charlottes biggest advantage before intermission was 10 on Hendersons 4-foot turnaround jumper with 4:22 left in the second quarter. Walker, who scored at least 20 in six straight games before finishing with 18 in Fridays home loss to Oklahoma City, missed his first six shots before hitting a 3-pointer that put Charlotte up 55-47 early in the third. Walker finished 4 for 20 from the field and scored 16 points. "I just told them, we have to get past the point where everybodys happy that the Bobcats arent getting beat every night," Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said. "Because were better than that, OK? We can play better than this." It took until the final seconds of the third for Atlanta to cut the lead to six when Antic blocked three shots by Cody Zeller on the same possession and Williams followed with a 3 from the left sideline to make it 77-71. "We did a great job of getting stops there at the end," Williams said. "We made timely baskets. We made big shots in situations where we needed them. In overtime, we just battled." Notes: Atlanta G Kyle Korver hit a 3 early in the fourth to extend his NBA career record to a 99th consecutive game. ... With Horford sidelined, Millsap and G DeMarre Carroll are the only Hawks to start and play in all 30 games. Budenholzer said before the game that the team doesnt know much time Horford will miss. The Browns, who have been shuttling quarterbacks on and off the field all season, finally got some good news on that front: Campbells ribs are only bruised. http://www.thejetsjerseysshoponline.com/Youth-Christian-Hackenberg-Jets-Jersey/ . PAUL, Minn.Oh my Ottawa, so close but yet so far away. With only one win by only one point heading into Week 15 of CFL football this really has turned into a very long season for RedBlack football. With two seconds to go, no time outs, seven yards away, first down and the score 15-7 the chance was there to tie the Montreal Alouettes and take it to overtime. It would have been poetic justice considering all the adversity and opportunities missed all season but it was not to be. I guess you could blame everybody: coaches for not anticipating, quarterback for not directing, receivers for mass confusion and centre for lack of execution. Everybody. As painful as it was to watch the moment not capitalized upon it really is all part of the gigantic process of learning how to win and maturing as a team. People grow up and teams grow up too. It is a process of seeing what was difficult and awkward becoming controllable and smooth. When you talk to a coach it is often why they say they coach in the first place, to see a team or an individual improve and mature. In the case of the team its called winning, and in the case of a player its called performing. Yes it is directly related and achievable and its easier when you have your best players on the field, but even the best players were not very good at some point in their football careers. Ottawa in many ways is like a little kid making mistakes and improving as it ages, they just need to grow up fast since patience in waiting for winning is very short in pro football. The same goes for Winnipeg. The inability to score a touchdown and get Drew Willy his fifth come-from-behind win was painful to watch but if its never repeated was well worth the experience. There still are many more good aspects of football to talk about than bad but this was a tough one to accept and move on from. Especially when you realize that Willy had a 303-yard passing day and the quarterback on the other side, Zach Collaros for Hamilton, had a 182-yard passing day and the 303-yard quarterback lost. And looking at Hamilton, that is a team that is growing up. They have won four of the last five and are in first place in the East with an uncomfortable 5-7 record. First place is first place and the Ticats control their football destiny which is always priority number one. The return of an efficient Collaros is reason number one why this is the case, but they are also a defensive football team that has improved and is playing its best right now. Hamilton has good Canadian talent and you see that at this point of the season, Lindon Gaydosh is going to be an effective player and with Justin Hickman back the Ticat four-man pass rush is better than it ever has been. The resurgence of Hamilton also coincides with their moving in to a new stadium and everything new that goes with it. I am convinced that if you have an empowering atmosphere you will see an improvement on field in skill and result. I wonder if Toronto has what Hamilton does - if not they would aalso benefit. ArDarius Stewart Jersey. Pure logic says yes. The most impressive win was Edmonton 24, Saskatchewan 0. It is tough to shut out a team in CFL football with all the ways you can score but Edmonton did it. The Eskimos are run and influenced by Mike Reilly, foremost as an individual player but they have three good running backs comparable to anyone Saskatchewan or Calgary have. Tyler Thomas, Kendial Lawrence and now John White and his 192 yards give Edmonton exceptional balance in run and pass. White saw what Lawrence and Thomas were doing and knew he was competing for long term employment against the Riders. He won both competitions. For the Riders the obvious is the most relevant and of extreme significance. Right now I cant see the Saskatchewan Roughriders getting to or winning the Grey Cup unless someone takes over at quarterback and performs fast. Is it on the roster? Right now I have to say no. Could it be on the roster? I have to say maybe, but not a confident maybe, more of a doubting maybe. Pretty much everything else is good but the unknown of who will and can handle the football the best is a massive concern. Anthony Allen, Jerome Messam and Will Ford get ready, the quality of the 2014 season may fall on the three of you. With Calgary 14, B.C. 7, twenty carries for 156 yards says it all. Even though they knew it was coming Jon Cornish ran for 156 on only 20 carries. Dew Tate threw for only six yards more with 162 to put the Cornish performance as the reason the Stamps won. Other reasons: First, BC scored on its opening drive and that was it, great defence. Second, of the 156 yards, many times Cornish hit the second level - the linebacker level - in full stride. Great offensive line blocking. And third, Dave Dickenson. He kept his top player his top player by using him over and over again. There were many times we all knew Cornish was going to get the ball and he still got it. Dickenson stayed disciplined all game and made sure when it came to touches, Cornish turned each one into yards. It is tough to win on field goals and credit BC on defence but Calgary did it and are now 11-2. Thoughts going into Week 15? Winnipeg must beat Ottawa big time. Not just to help make the playoffs but to bolster confidence because if they dont confidence will hit an all-time low. Calgary at Saskatchewan. If the Stampeders win it pretty much kicks the Riders out of any realistic chance at first place. This is the first of two matchups with the next in Week 18 but that one is in Calgary. For Toronto, playing Edmonton in Toronto is an advantage as this says Edmonton does not play its best. Five of next six are at home for the Argos and if, and I know it is an if, five wins happen it is a nine-win season. Considering all the adversity of this year, it would be a minor miracle. With B.C. at Hamilton, the Ticats stole one in Winnipeg and will have to earn one back home. They just might. October football starts Wednesday. Fall football is here. MINNEAPOLIS -- The shots were clanking and the frustration was mounting for J. Ian Mahinmi Jersey .J. Barea during a three-game shooting slump that was getting him booed off his home court with regularity. With the lowly Milwaukee Bucks hitting everything in sight, Minnesota coach Rick Adelman gave Barea some time with the Ricky Rubio in the same backcourt, and the throwback lineup helped jumpstart Barea and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Love had 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and Barea scored 19 points to lift the Timberwolves to a 112-101 victory over the Bucks on Tuesday night. After going 5 for his previous 25, Barea hit seven of 10 shots to help wake up the sluggish Wolves and Kevin Martin scored 26 points to help them finish a four-game homestand at 2-2. After carving a niche for himself in this league as a helter-skelter, mini-shooting guard who thrives when playing alongside a bigger point guard, roster limitations have forced Adelman to play Barea as a more prototypical backup point guard this season. But Milwaukee plays a smaller backcourt, which allowed Adelman the chance to pair Barea and Rubio. "I love it. I miss it," Barea said. "I miss playing off the ball a little bit, especially with Ricky. When Im making shots, its great for our team." Brandon Knight scored 21 points for the Bucks (13-51), who led at halftime and were looking for their first set of back-to-back victories this season. But after scoring 61 points in the first half and leading by 11 points in the second quarter, the Bucks were outscored 19-4 to start the fourth quarter. "Fourth quarter, we couldnt really get anything going," said Bucks guard Nate Wolters, who had 14 points. "Weve had problems all year in the fourth quarter closing games. We gave ourselves a chance to win, having a lead going into the fourth, but just couldnt get it going and win." Rubio had 11 points and 10 assists and three steals for Minnesota. "J.J.s a great scorer and sometimes he needs to play the (shooting guard)," Rubio said. "But its hard to do it when they have a (big) two. But I like playing with him. He made shots today and he played a lot." The Timberwolves scored 30 points off of 15 turnovers by Milwaukee to offset some porous defence that allowed the Bucks to shoot 52.7 per cent. They trailed by six points at halftime, but Love and Dante Cunningham fueled the game-clinching run with a flurry of jumpers that pushed the lead to 105-88. "There was no pace and we let them get defensive stops," said Bucks forward ZaZa Pachulia, who had a career-high 10 assists with nine points and six rebounds. "They are one of the best teams in transition and they got out in front of us and got easy buckets in transition. We just werent able to get back." The Wolves (32-31) entered the game five games behind Memphis for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. In all likelihood, they kicked away their chance to make the post-season for the first time in 10 years with losses to the Knicks and Raptors earlier in this homestand. A loss to the worst team in the league at home surely would have ended any slim hopes that remained. The Bucks have been playing better basketball, at least offensively, since a trade last month brought Ramon Sessions and Adrien from Charlotte and sent disgruntled guard Gary Neal to the Bobcats. Even so, they were playing the second night of a back-to-back while the Wolves were playing their fourth straight game at home. The Bucks also were missing starting power forward Ersan Ilyasova because of a sore ankle. But as the Timberwolves have done all year long, they delivered a listless defensive effort to give their opponent life it had no business having. Milwaukee made its first 12 shots, the longest streak without a miss to open a game in the league this season, and shot over 71 per cent in the first quarter to jump out to a 33-22 lead. Barea made his first six shots in the second quarter, including a layup that tied the game at 49. NOTES: Wolters, from nearby St. Cloud, Minn., had a large contingent of fans who came both from his hometown and from South Dakota. Wolters starred in college at South Dakota State. ... Timberwolves F Luc Richard Mbah a Moute hosted a dozen young fans from the south of France. The fans made plans to travel to the U.S. to see him play for Sacramento against New York. PAUL, Minn – The clock lingered for what seemed like an interminable two minutes and 51 seconds before Mark Fraser finally escaped to the bench during a wildly one-sided first period of an eventual loss to Boston.COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After a forgettable weekend, Anton Khudobin helped the Carolina Hurricanes get a much-needed victory on Tuesday night. Khudobin made a career-high 46 saves and Andrei Loktionov and Patrick Dwyer each had a goal and an assist to send Carolina past the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1. Nathan Gerbe also scored, and Jay Harrison added two assists for the Hurricanes, who were criticized by coach Kirk Muller after weekend losses to Boston and Edmonton. "In the neutral zone we did a better job of getting speed and getting on the forecheck," Carolinas Jordan Staal said. Boone Jenner scored for Columbus, which outshot the Hurricanes 19-0 in the third period. Carolina jumped ahead at 3:41 on its first shot. Gerbe grabbed a loose puck that defenceman Fedor Tyutin couldnt handle and on an odd-man rush and scored his 15th of the season from the right circle. "When you score first its always important and gives you a little confidence," Khudobin said. "Im happy with the win. I would probably be more happy if I didnt get scored on with like a minute left. But we got the result, we won. Thats most important for me." The Hurricanes were close to a playoff spot on Feb. 7, but they entered the game having lost nine of 12 and are likely to miss the post-season again. The Blue Jackets are in a tight race in the Eastern Conference playoff race. They dropped a rare one at home where they are 10-3-1 in their past 14. "It seemed we had some pretty good quality chances," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "We hit a couple posts (during the game). We had our opportunities. I think we were doing some things to create offence. We just werent able to finish." Sergei Bobrovsky allowed three goals on 20 shots. Jason Smith Jersey. . He was replaced by Curtis McElhinney to start the third period. Early in the second period, Loktionov poked home his fifth to make it 2-0 on the power play -- and Carolinas eighth shot -- with Jenner in the box for delay of game. Bobrovksy stopped Harrisons point shot -- that broke the stick of Columbus Derek MacKenzie propelling the blade into the slot -- but defenceman Jack Johnson couldnt stop Loktionov. "I think the second period we picked it up and basically we scored at the right time with timely goals," Muller said. Columbus had chances the rest of the period, but couldnt beat Khudobin, who made a nice stop on R.J. Umberger. The Blue Jackets took two more penalties in the period that tempered their momentum. Then with room down the right side, Dwyer scored his seventh at 17:20 on a slap shot from the right circle that beat Bobrovsky near side. In the third period, Khudobin turned aside one shot after another until Jenner scored his 13th on a redirection with 50 seconds left. "Its funny, weve been on the other end so many times this year outshooting teams and coming up short," Muller said. "Change it around tonight and your goalie wins the hockey game. I guess it balances it out." Notes: The 47 shots for Columbus were a season high. ...The Hurricanes last won in Columbus on March 8, 2004, a span of four games. ... The Toronto Raptors are having one of the best seasons in franchise history - in a year when nobody expected it. Daryl Johnston Jersey . Many believed sneaking into the final playoff spot would be a success for the Raptors this season, but even that wasnt guaranteed. But with only 11 games remaining in the regular season, Toronto (40-31) sits in third place in the Eastern Conference, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets for tops in the Atlantic Division and a postseason spot all but official. This will be the first time since 2008 that the Raptors will play in the NBAs second season. With all of the good fortunes the Dinos have seen this year, who has been most integral to the teams success? DeMar DeRozan is the face of the franchise and is one of the longest tenured members of the Raptors. The 24-year-old made his first All-Star Game this season and is leading the team in points scoring 22.7 per game. This is DeRozans fifth year in the Association and he signed a four-year deal last season to stay north of the border for the foreseeable future. Will the team only go as far as DeMar will take them? Kyle Lowry has quickly become a fan favourite in only his second season in Raptors colours. The rugged point guard has shown bulldog-like toughness on a nightly basis, playing considerable minutes and being the man the team has looked to when they are in need of a spark. Analysts and fans alike thought the 28-year-old should have been in New Orleans for the All-Star Game. Averaging 17.6 PPG (scoring over 20 points in eight consecutive games) along with 7.7 assists per game makes a good case for that argument. His future is uncertain in Toronto with Lowry hitting the free agent market this summer, but the Raptors are glad to have him for the time being. Is he the one to thank? Then theres Amir Johnson. At only 26, he can be considered a veteran, already playing in his ninth NBA season and is an important part of the Raps front court. He averages 11.1 PPG, 6.9 rebounds per game and is a strong force on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe the key success is coming from the sidelines. Head coach Dwane Casey is in his second year in charge of the Raptors and seems to have finally gotten through to his players. Toronto has gotten much better defensively only allowing 97.6 PPG, good enough for fifth in the NBA. Is the coachs defence-first mindset the reason the Raptors are headed to the post-season? The success could be attributed to General Manager Masai Ujiri. The Nigerian hasnt brought in a lot of highly touted talent since he took the job last off-season. Instead hes used the method of addition by subtraction to improve on the court. First, he shipped the much-maligned Andrea Bargnani off to the New York Knicks followed by sending Rudy Gay to the Sacramento Kings during the season. Toronto is 34-19 since Gay was traded out west. With the offence no longer going through Gay, the Raptors have been able to score more efficiently. Not to mention the players coming back to Toronto - namely Patrick Patterson and Greivis Vasquez – have helped the Raptors to get where they are today. Do we have to look to the front office for the reason behind the sudden improvement? So, who do you think is the most integral to the Raptors success this season? As always, its Your! Call. As he prepares to host 40 family members and friends in Atlantas season finale, Gonzalez sounds as if he isnt entirely ready to walk away. When the Falcons announced in March that he would return this year, the 13-time Pro Bowl tight end was "100 per cent certain" he would retire after the season. Now Gonzalez wonders if he could change his mind again if Atlanta returns to playoff contention next fall and general manager Thomas Dimitroff gives him a call. "Id have to cross that bridge when I get to it, but right now I dont have any plans," he said. "I know for sure I wont be on an opening day for roster anybody. Im going to-- this is it. This is it." Meeting with reporters Friday, Gonzalez focused most of his answers on the end of his career. The 37-year-old insisted that hes pleased to "go out on his own terms" and added that hes "thankful for the opportunity" to have stayed healthy and productive for 17 seasons. Gonzalez ranks second in career catches, fifth in yards receiving and sixth in touchdown catches. No NFL tight end ever put up such numbers, but Gonzalez hardly returned this year to pad his stats. He craved playing in his first Super Bowl, winning a championship and making a legendary exit. The Falcons, though, never had a chance. Julio Jones, Sam Baker and Kroy Biermann suffered season-ending injuries. Sean Weatherspoon played in only seven games. Roddy White made 12 starts and Steven Jackson made 11, but both players were hurt most of the year. Quarterback Matt Ryan was harassed all season behind a weak offensive, and Atlantas defence was gouged repeatedly for big plays. Not surprisingly, Gonzalezs production dropped off as opponents double-teamed his routes. In October and early November, Gonzalez openly discussed his frustration and held out hope that the Falcons could still turn the season around. By the first of December, though, Gonzalez took a different approach with reporters, reminiscing about his early morning drives from hectic Buckhhead to the picturesque mountain view at team headquarters. Tyron Smith Jersey. He talked about missing quality time with his kids but also feeling grateful to former teammates and coaches in Kansas City and those hes worked with in Atlanta the last five years. "I know I could come back and play a couple of more years if I wanted to, but its time for me to go," Gonzalez said. "Its time for me to get back to my family, get back to California, where Im from and explore that next chapter of my life. Im going to have fun with it." Television work is a possibility for Gonzalez, but playing football might not be out of the question. The Falcons, after all, signed him to a two-year, $14 million contract last March, and if they get off to a strong start next season, Gonzalez might reconsider, but he stopped short of saying that he plans to file retirement papers with the NFL. Then again, the aches and pains of a 16-game season arent getting easier, this despite the Falcons allowing him to miss over three weeks of training camp and preseason games last summer. "Like I said, dont anybody ever feel bad for me," Gonzalez said, smiling. "The things Ive accomplished in my career are more than anybody ever deserves." With one full day remaining before Atlanta (4-11) hosts the playoff-bound Carolina Panthers (11-4), Gonzalez is eager to go out with a victory. He had a good ride with the Falcons in his first four years, helping the team go 45-19 and win his first playoff game last January. But after narrowly beating Seattle in the divisional round, Atlanta fell 10 yards short against San Francisco in the NFC title game. "You never know when it can come to an end, and thats always been my approach," Gonzalez said. "Ive never said that Ive arrived with my accomplishments. Ive never, ever said that thats good enough for me or Ive caught enough balls to last a lifetime. I always wanted to keep working and keep working in case this is it, and now that Im coming into my last one, Im glad Ive done it that way. "It worked out, and hopefully Ill carry those habits into my next career, whatever that is." Baseball season is just around the corner and TSN. Miles Plumlee Jersey .ca has you covered for whos in, whos out and what to expect from all 30 teams. Check in every day this week for two new division previews, finishing up with Scott MacArthurs look at the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. Heres what to expect out of the American League West in 2014. Houston Astros GM: Jeff Luhnow Manager: Bo Porter 2013: 54-111, fifth in AL West. Did not qualify for playoffs. That was Then: The Astros American League debut last season wasnt exactly a sterling one. Coming over from the National League Central to the AL West, the Astros dropped a league-worst 111 games last season, the most by any team in 10 years and a franchise record, and hit the 100-loss mark for the the third-straight season. They closed the year on a 15-game losing streak. Welcome to the American League. Though the teams season was abysmal, catcher Jason Castros was not. The third-year catcher set team records for the position in home runs (18), runs (63) and slugging percentage (.485). In recognition of his season, Castro was named the teams lone All-Star. Jose Altuve continued to emerge as one of the leagues finest young middle infielders and the team was able to lock him up to a modest, $12.5 million, four-year extension last summer that included two team options. The 23-year-old Venezuelan led the Majors with 41 hits in September and finished the season with career-highs in hits and RBI. To be charitable, the Astros entire pitching staff was battered last season. The teams ace, Bud Norris, and its closer, Jose Veras, were both trade at the trade deadline in July (Norris to the Baltimore Orioles and Veras to the Detroit Tigers) and the rest of the Astros arms struggled mightily. The Houston staff and bullpen finished with a league-worst 4.79 ERA and gave up 766 earned runs, 33 more than the second-worst Milwaukee Brewers. Third-year starter Jordan Lyles, now with the Colorado Rockies after a December trade, led the rotation with a modest seven victories. This is Now: Its pretty telling of a teams offseason when the biggest news will likely have little to no impact at all on the club on the field. After bringing aboard Reid Ryan a year ago as team president, the team brought back his father, Hall of Famer Nolan, as a special assistant to owner Jim Crane in February. Obviously, Astros fans will be thrilled to have the legendary Ryan back in the fold, especially at the expense of their cross-state rival Texas Rangers, but nostalgia will only take you so far and not nearly as far the Astros need it to in 2014. Despite the acquisitions of veteran help in Dexter Fowler, Chad Qualls and Canadian Jesse Crain and a new staff ace in Scott Feldman (the teams highest-paid player at $10 million), this season has the potential to look a lot like last season. Thats not to say that there isnt young talent to be excited about for the Astros in the likes of George Springer, Delino DeShields, Jr. and Mark Appel, all of whom will likely see some Majors experience this year, but their time has not come yet or, at least, it shouldnt be expected to come yet. While the team has made strides to correct its bullpen woes, outside of Fowler, little has been done to address 2013s .673 OPS (again, a league-worst), another 100-loss season shouldnt come as a surprise. One early storyline to follow: If the Astros start the season with six-straight losses (they open with a six-game homestand with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels), they will have lost 21-consecutive games that will tie the 1988 Baltimore Orioles record for the longest streak since the turn of the 20th Century. Fun times. Whos In?: OF Dexter Fowler (trade with COL), SP Scott Feldman (three-year deal), RP Jesse Crain (one-year deal), RP Chad Qualls (two-year deal + option), RP Matt Albers (one-year deal + option), OF Jesus Guzman (trade with SD) and SP Jerome Williams (one-year contract). Whos Out?: SP Erik Bedard (signed with TB), OF Brandon Barnes, SP Jordan Lyles (traded to COL) and 1B Brent Wallace (designated for assignment; later signed with BAL). Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim GM: Jerry Dipoto Manager: Mike Scoscia 2013: 78-84, third in AL West. Did not qualify for playoffs. That was Then: Halos owner Arte Moreno has never been shy about spending money and made the biggest free agent splash last offseason in scooping up slugger Josh Hamilton from the rival Texas Rangers. But like the Albert Pujols signing the previous winter, Hamilton failed to pay the immediate dividends expected, hitting just .250 with only 21 homers and 79 RBI. Those are fine numbers for an average-to-above average outfielder, but not ones expected from a perennial All-Star and former MVP in the handsomely paid Hamilton. He wasnt the only disappointment for a team expected to contend for the division title and even more. Injuries forced the Angels to trot out 11 different starting pitchers in 2013 and, while Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson were dependable, the rest of that rotation was not. On the bright side, Mike Trout, once again, made his case for being the best all-around player on the planet with 27 home runs, 97 RBI, a .326 average and an OPS of .988. This is Now: The good news? The chances of Pujols and Hamilton bouncing back this year are exponentially greater than the pair having another off-year. Make no mistake, though, both sluggers are aging (34 and 32, respectively) and the team knows that its window with those two is closing. The team sacrificed some power and speed in the outfield to address concerns in the infield and on the mound. In dealing Peter Bourjos, arguably the fastest player in the American League, to the St. Louis Cardinals, the team acquired the dependable bat and infield arm of David Freese, who slots into third base. The team also traded Mark Trumbo and his 34 homers and 100 RBI as part of a three-team deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox that netted young arms Tyler Skaggs and Hector Santiago. Skaggs has more upside of the pair, but both pitchers will be looked upon to shore up the back end of the rotation (along with Garrett Richards) that sorely needs the help. The team will also find out if outfielder Kole Calhoun is ready for prime time. Calhoun, who has looked good in a small sample size, will lead off for the club and is expected to be the everyday right fielder. Whether hes up to the task remains to be seen. Another thing: The team needs to be much better playing within the division. They were 32-44 against divisional opposition last season, including an abysmal 4-15 against the Rangers. A year after unquestionable failure, tempered hopes for 2014 belie the fact that much is still expected from this team. Whos In?: IF David Freese (trade with STL), DH Raul Ibanez (one-year deal), SP Tyler Skaggs (acquired from ARI), SP Hector Santiago (acquired from CWS) and RP Joe Smith (three-year deal) Whos Out?: OF Mark Trumbo (traded to ARI), OF Peter Bourjos (traded to STL), SP Jason Vargas (signed with KC) and SP Jerome Williams (signed with HOU) Oakland Athletics GM: Billy Beane Manager: Bob Melvin 2013: 96-66, first in AL West. Lost to Detroit in American League Divisional Series. That was Then: You would think that the Oakland As would get sick of defying the odds, but no, they went out again last season and won the AL West over the highly favoured Angels and Rangers for a second-straight year. The offence was led by Josh Donaldson, who finished fourth in AL MVP voting after an outstanding campaign that saw him hit 24 home runs and knock in 97 RBI while hitting .301 with an .883 OPS and an 8.0 WAR. Thats not to say that the team relied on Donaldson solely. The team produced the third-most runs in the AL through a balanced attack that featured major contributions from Josh Reddick, Jed Lowrie, Brandon Moss, Coco Crisp and Yoenis Cespedes. On the mound, ace Jarrod Parker continued to eat innings (12-8, 3.97 ERA and 1.223 WHIP in 197.0 IP), while the seemingly ageless Bartolo Colon won 18 games and was named to the All-Star team eight years after his last appearance. A.J Griffin, Tommy Milone and Dan Straily rounded out what ended up being one of the best young staffs in all of baseball. A bullpen anchored by closer Grant Balfour was arguably the best in the AL. This is Now: Injuries have ravaged the rotation and the As will have to overcome those if they have any designs on a threepeat. Parker is lost for the season, thanks to a second Tommy John surgery. Griffin has been shut down for most of spring training with elbow discomfort. New signing Scott Kazmir will be ready for Opening Day, but he, too, has been afflicted with triceps issues. With Colon moving on in free agency, the team hopes that Sonny Gray, impressive in his 10 Major League appearances, can slip seamlessly into the rotation and help shoulder the load. Milone and Straily will make up the back-end of the rotation with the likes of Jesse Chavez and Drew Pomeranz able to spot-start if need be. Even with Balfour gone to the Rays, the bullpen remains a strength and is now anchored by All-Star Jim Johnson, the ALs reigning saves leader over the past two seasons. Luke Gregerson and Fernando Abad, the other new pen additions, will also be joined by Eric OFlaherty in the summer, once his rehab for Tommy John is completed. If the As offence, mostly unchanged from last season, plays to what its capable of and its staff depth can absorb the teams pitching injuries, Oakland will be competing for another division title and another trip to the post-season in 2014. Whos In?: RP Jim Johnson (trade with BAL), SP Scott Kazmir (two-year deal), OF Craig Gentry (trade with TEX), RP Luke Gregerson (acquired from SD), RP Fernando Abad (acquired from ARI) and Nick Punto (one-year deal with club option). Whos Out?: SP Bartolo Colon (signed with SF), RP Grant Balfour (signed with TB) and OF Seth Smith. Seattle Mariners GM: Jack Zduriencik Manager: Lloyd McClendon 2013: 71-91, fourth in AL West. Did not qualify for playoffs. That was Then: The Mariners werent very good last year, finishing below .500 for the fourth straight-time and missing the playoffs for a 12th-consecutive season. Much was riding on the youth in Seattle last year and, while their were flashes of greatness, there was nothing consistent enough to make anybody think twice about the Mariners as anything but also-rans. Former first-round pick Justin Smoak again failed to live up to potential with a dreadful year at the plate, hitting .209 in the second-half of the season. Dustin Ackley struggled with consistency, while the less said about Jesus Monteros season, the better. Still, there were signs of life from youngsters with Kyle Seager, Canadian Michael Saunders and Nick Franklin all showing why the team values the trio so highly. Veteran acquisitions were a mixed bag. Raul Ibanez and Kendrys Morales contributed offensively with the seemingly 150-year-old former leading the team with 29 RBI and the latter knocking in 80 runs. On the flip side, Mike Morse disappointed and was jettisoned to the Baltimore Orioles at the deadline and Jason Bay simply had nothing left in the tank. The team got 200-plus innings from Hishashi Iwakuma and superstar Felix Hernandez, but pitching on the whole, was suspect. The Mariners had the fifth-worst team ERA at 4.25, the fifth-most hits allowed (1467) and the fourth-most earned runs conceded (702). This is Now: The Mariners spent that Nintendo money in the offseason...a whole lot of it. The team signed the most coveted player available in Robinson Cano to a massive 10-year, $240 million deal, but that wasnt all. Closer Fernando Rodney was brought in to anchor the bullpen and former All-Star Corey Hart, who missed all of last season, was signed to a one-year deal. Hes slotted in to play right field. The question remains, even with Cano and the other additions, is this Mariners team any better equipped to compete in what should be a good AL West? New manager Lloyd McClendon has spent the last several seasons as Jim Leylands right-hand man in Detroit, so theres hope that hes learned some of the codgers tricks after what was a pretty inauspicious managerial bow with the Pittsburgh Pirates. If the teams youth can step up (including highly rated starter Taijuan Walker, who starts the season on the DL and speedy shortstop Brad Miller) with a previously absent level of consistency, Hart can return to form and the likes of Smoak and newly acquired Logan Morrison tap into their potential, the Mariners will be in the mix, but it will be tough. Whos In?: 2B Robinson Cano (10-year deal), OF Corey Hart (one-year deal), OF Logan Morrison (trade with MIA), C John Buck (one-year contract) and IF Willie Bloomquist (two-year deal). Whos Out?: OF Jason Bay (retired), OF Kendrys Morales (unsigned), Raul Ibanez (signed with LAA), RP Carter Capps (traded to MIA), SP Aaron Harang (signed with ATL), RP Oliver Perez (signed with ARI) and SP Joe Saunders (unsigned) Texas Rangers GM: Jon Daniels Manager: Ron Washington 2013: 91-72, second in AL West. Did not qualify for playoffs. That was Then: After a horrible collapse in 2012, the Rangers found a new way to end the season on a sour note, losing an AL Wild Card tie-breaker (the 163rd game of the season) to the Tampa Bay Rays to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2009. September was once again cruel to the Rangers, as a 5-15 start to the month effectively ended their pursuit of the Athletics division lead and condemned them to the tie-breaker. Why did this happen again? While still respectable and despite the yeomans effort of Adrian Beltre, the offence suffered with the departures of Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli. The team led the league with 808 runs in 2012, but only scored 730 last season. Losing Nelson Cruz to a 50-game PED suspension certainly didnt help those matters any. On the other side of the ball, Yu Darvish was dominant, recording 278 strikeouts, the most by any pitcher since Randy Johnson in 2012. The bullpen, anchored by the 43 saves of Joe Nathan (now departed), was also solidly reliable, but the midseason acquisition of Matt Garza did not work out as planned. This is Now: If the Rangers had questions about making up for lost run production last season, they think theyve answered them by bringing in Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo Choo. Though Fielder cost the hefty price of 2B Ian Kinsler, the Rangers hope that Fielder can take advantage of the short fence in right field. Choo, the new lead-off man, will be relied upon to help set the plate for the big first baseman and if the two combine the way that theyre capable of, the Rangers will have found a lethal combination at the top of the order. The team isnt sure with what theyll get offensively from the platoon behind the plate. With A.J. Pierzynski in Boston and Geovany Soto out for up to three months with a torn meniscus in his knee, J.P. Arencibia appears to be the man. Arencibia is coming off of one of the statistically worst seasons ever with the Toronto Blue Jays. With Kinsler gone, stud prospect Jurickson Profar gets an everyday role, but hes going to miss up to three months with a torn muscle in his shoulder. The Rangers wont start the year on the mound unscathed, either. Derek Holland is out until the summer, recovering from knee surgery. Matt Harrison is also not ready to go with a back injury. The teams impressive pitching depth allows for the likes of Matt Tepesch to step into the rotation, but questions remain. Despite the loss of Nathan, the Rangers bullpen remains formidable and, if he can regain his form prior to his injury, Neftali Perez could make for a fine closer. Three doesnt get it done for you.The Rams pointed to a crucial penalty after a 41-yard pass to Jared Cook had put the ball on the Arizona 4-yard line late in the third quarter. The visiting side opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Patrick van Aanholt got free down the left flank to the end line and served in an excellent cross and Fletcher got his head to it, nodding it down and into the bottom left corner from about 12 yards out. Palace grabbed a fortunate equalizer in the 55th minute when a strong attempt on target forced Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon into a fantastic diving save, but defender Wes Brown was a bit over eager and knocked the ball into his owwn net to put the sides on level terms. Things then got worse for the home side when Australian international midfielder Mile Jedinak was shown a second yellow card by referee Phil Dowd and sent off, reducing the Eagles to 10 men. Despite playing a man down, Palace could take some solace in the fact that the fourth officials board showed five minutes of added time, giving them a decent chunk to try to find an equalizer, But it never came and Fletcher completed his double in stoppage time as the Black Cats hung on for their second win of the season and first at Selhurst Park in 19 years. WALLINGFORD, Conn. Baltimore Orioles Jerseys . -- Its been a season of hockey firsts for Canadian forward Jamie Lee Rattray. The 21-year-old from Kanata, Ont., became the first Clarkson University player to win the Patty Kazmaier Award that goes to the best player in NCAA Division 1 womens hockey. Rattray helped lead the Golden Knights to their first Frozen Four appearance. Theyll face the University of Minnesota on Sunday in the championship game. "Its been unbelievable," Rattray told The Canadian Press after receiving the award Saturday. "Especially as a senior, theres nothing more I could ask for than to cap off my senior year playing in the last game of the season. "Its my last college game. The first game ever I played in my career was against Minnesota and now the last one. Its going to be exciting (Sunday) and a lot of emotions, but youve got to go out there and play your game." Rattray ranked second in NCAA scoring this season with 62 points -- 28 goals and 34 assists in 39 games -- to help Clarkson set a single-season record for wins with 30. Shes the fifth Canadian to win the Patty Kazmaier Award in its 17-year history. Cornell forward Jillian Saulnier from Halifax and American forward Hannah Brandt of the University of Minnesota were the other two finalists for the award. Brandt led Division 1 scoring with 22 goals and 41 assists for 63 points in 39 games. Saulnier, 22, ranked fourth with 28 goals and 28 assists in 34 games. Previous Canadian winners of the award were Mercyhursts Vicki Bendus of Wasaga Beach, Ont., (2010); Harvards Sarah Vaillancourt of Sherbrooke, Que., (2008); Wisconsins Sara Bauer of St. Catharines, Ont., (2006); and Harvards Jennifer Botterill of Winnipeg (2001, 2003). The award was established in 1998 in memory of Kazmaier, a Princeton defenceman who died of a blood disease at the age of 28. "Its definitely a great honour and especially with those nominees," Rattray said. "It was kind of neat to be part of that group and it was neat to see at the banquet today what Patty was all about. "I was pretty nervous at first, but then excitement kind of came over me. Definitely an honourable group to be part of." "Its a lot of fun," Misi said. "But I seem to get on a boat that doesnt catch too many fish. Hopefully this year that will change." With the season three months away, the Dolphins are casting about for ways to improve their defence, which is why Misi found himself at middle linebacker during Mondays off-season practice. He spent his first four NFL seasons mostly at strong-side linebacker, but the Miami coaching staff believes Misi might be better suited to clogging up the middle for a team that ranked 24th in rushing defence and 21st in yards allowed in 2013. The switch is an experiment instigated when the Dolphins began off-season workouts. Misi swapped spots with Dannell Ellerbe, who moved from the middle to the outside in Miamis 4-3 scheme. Philip Wheeler remains at weak-side linebacker, where second-year pro Jelani Jenkins could challenge him for playing time. Linebacker was considered a weakness last year for the Dolphins, but they didnt address the area with a major acquisition in free agency or the draft, and now coach Joe Philbin is looking at the position switch as a possible remedy. The 6-foot-3, 254-pound Misi was considered the best of the three starting linebackers last season. He won praise for his sound fundamentals, sure tackling and run-stopping skills. "One of the things Ive liked about him is when we do a year-end video cutup and show examples of how to take on a block, tackle properly and pursue to the ball, he shows up on a lot of those cuts," Philbin said. "He plays the right way. And he has great leadership qualities. So we want to take a look at him in the interior. Well see how he adjusts to that position and relaates to the other players and the defence in general. Zach Britton Jersey. So far he has done a nice job." Defensive co-ordinator Kevin Coyle said the switch is a work in progress, but he likes the idea of Misi in the middle. "He has such a physical presence," Coyle said. "When Koa hits you, you stay hit for a while. I cant tell you how many times weve used Koa as the example of, This is how you compete each and every snap on defence." Misi has been used at both outside linebacker spots and played a little defensive end early in his career, so hes accustomed to position changes. "Since I got here Ive been switching positions," he said. "Im always open to try something new. If it works, it works. If not, well go back to the way things were." Ellerbe said his attitude is the same. He played four seasons at outside linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens before replacing an injured Ray Lewis in the middle during their Super Bowl championship season in 2012. He moved back to the middle when he joined the Dolphins last year. "Whatever will help the team, Im down for," Ellerbe said. "It doesnt matter where we play." In the middle, Misi said, he must adjust to the heavier traffic and change the way he reads keys. In addition, playing in the middle -- the mike position -- requires that the laid-back Misi assume more of a leadership role. "Mike is the leader of the defence," he said. "It forces you to be more vocal. Youve got to make all the calls, and you have to know pretty much the whole defence to get in the right spot to make a play." The experiment will likely continue the rest of this week at least, with two more practices scheduled. "I cant commit today to say that its a done deal," Coyle said, "but certainly I like what were seeing." PSV Eindhovens dismal season reached a new low on Thursday by losing 1-0 at home to Chornomorets Odesa to become the biggest name to crash out of the Europa League. Jamie Meder Jersey . However, English Premier League side Swansea survived a defeat to St. Gallen to advance to the last 32, joining Chornomorets, NK Maribor and Maccabi Tel Aviv in reaching the knockout stage after the final round of group matches. Two more places were up for grabs in the late kickoffs, with Dynamo Kyiv needing at least a draw against Rapid Vienna to progress from Group G. PSV is a former European champion and winner of the UEFA Cup -- the pre-cursor to the Europa League -- but has fallen on hard times and is languishing in 10th place in the Netherlands Eredivisie after Saturdays 6-2 humbling by Vitesse Arnhem. Phillip Cocus side has also exited the Dutch Cup and is now out of Europe thanks to Franck Dja Djedjes 59th-minute goal for Chornomorets, which plays in Ukraine. PSV is without a victory in more than two months. Chornomorets qualified from Group B with Ludogorets Razgrad. Swansea lost 1-0 at St. Gallen, with Marco Mathys scoring the winner, but advanced as the runner-up in Group A because Kuban Krasnodar only drew 1-1 at Valencia, which had already sealed top spot. England will have two teams in the last 32 because Tottenham has already qualified, but Wigan failed to join them after losing 2-1 at Maribor, which climbed to second place in Group D above Zulte Wagerem on goal difference. Zulte lost 2-0 at home to Rubin Kazan. Maccabi Tel Aviv sealed runner-up spot in Group F courtesy of a 1-0 home win over Bordeaux. Fiorentina went through as the unbeaten Group F winner after a 2-1 win against FC Dnipro. Butch Harmon reflects on Jimmy Walkers strong start to the PGA Championship and Dustin Johnsons disappointing opening round at Baltusrol. Josh Bynes Jersey . I said on our show at the start of the day that Dustin Johnson was the perennial favourite here this week. Walker holds a one-shot lead over the chasing pack He has played better than anybody over the past couple of months and this course suits his game, but he went and shot 77, which just goes to show how much I know! Our colleague Rich Beem was impressive today, coming out of the blocks and starting birdie, birdie over the first two holes. Johnson faces a battle to avoid an early exit The man who tops the leaderboard though is Jimmy Walker, who putted beautifully today and took just 25 putts over the course of his round. When you watch his putts back its noticeable how aggressive hes hitting them and how fast theyre going in to the hole, which is a sign youre putting well. Walker holds a one-shot lead over the chasing pack It has been a frustrating year so far for Jimmy. He has been working very hard on his swing and the mental side of his game and it showed off today. He had been struggling for a while and hasnt been putting well for him, up until today. Its very easy in golf to lose your confidence, where things can bug you and you can suddenly go from winning five times in 18 months like he did to not being able to do anything. Putting misery for McIlroy Northern Irishman fails to make a birdie in opening 74 at PGA Championship You can then start blaming yourself or getting into arguments with friends and your whole demeanour can change. Hes turning himself around and he comes to the golf course and is starting to play beautifully. He has been saying for a few months now that its close and that he was just waiting for something to happen, so its good to see that it now is. McDonagh put the puck past backup goalie Thomas Greiss, who relieved injured starter Mike Smith in the third period and then gave up the tying and winning goals. Girardi got the Rangers even with 3:26 left in regulation when he tipped in a drive by his defence partner McDonagh. Brad Richards and Derick Brassard scored in the second period when New York erased a 2-0 deficit Phoenix built in the first. Henrik Lundqvist made 18 saves to win on a night he was honoured for recently breaking Rangers marks for career victories and shutouts. The Rangers fourth straight win pushed them one point ahead of Philadelphia and into second place in the Metropolitan Division with nine games left. Philadelphia, which has two games in hand on the Rangers, will meet them in New York on Wednesday. Kyle Chipchura had a rare goal and assist, and defenceman Oilver Ekman-Larsson and Jeff Halpern also scored for the Coyotes, who hold the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Chipchura, who entered with only two goals and 11 assists in 69 games, helped set up Halperns goal and then was credited with the go-ahead tally when Rangers forward Chris Kreider knocked the puck into his own net. Smith stopped 25 shots while making his 12th consecutive start, but was forced to leave with 7:34 left in regulation after he injured his right leg when Brassard was pushed into him by Coyotes defenceman Derek Morris. Greiss came on for his first action since Feb. 28 and stopped seven of nine shots. The Rangers needed two big rallies to keep their winning streak alive. Brassards pass attempt in front bounced back to him in the right circle, and he sent a rising shot into the top right corner to make it 2-2. The Rangers were nowhere near the top of their game at the start, and they paid for it. Just 29 seconds after Rick Nash was sent off for tripping, Ekman-Larsson scored his 13th of the season with a stick-bending wrist shot from the right circle at 4:40. Smith, who stopped 10 shots in the first period, earned his third assist of the season. Lundqvist kept Phoenix at bay for a bit, but he was hung out to dry by his teammates when Halpern made it 2-0 on the Coyotes fifth shot. Chipchura made a backhanded pass from below the goal line in front to a wide-open Halpern for a quick shot past Lundqvist at 8:22 for his fifth goal. It appeared the Rangers would be no worse than tied going into the third, but Kreider deflected an attempted centring pass by Chipchura from the left-wing boards between Lundqvists legs to make it 3-2 with 1:09 left in the second. Lundqvist angrily swept the puck out of the net as Chipchura celebrated his third goal of the season and first in 57 games, dating to Oct. 29 vs. Los Angeles. BOSTON - The Boston Bruins have plenty of time to develop consistency. Jarrod Dyson Royals Jersey . For now, scoring in spurts seems to be working just fine. The Bruins scored three goals in a span of 2:34 on Thursday night and rode the third-period flurry to a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers that extended Bostons winning streak to four games. Those games arent always perfect, but you like the way your team responds to different situations, coach Claude Julien said. Were down 2-1, instead of panicking we just picked up our game and put our foot on the gas pedal and found a way to get some goals here.A pair of Edmonton penalties helped, and Boston improved to 5-1 since losing captain Zdeno Chara to a knee injury. The Bruins are still adjusting to playing without the big defenceman — and winning while doing it.It took barely 2 1/2 minutes for the Bruins to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead. Louie Eriksson tied it at 2, Carl Soderberg gave Boston the lead 1:25 later and Dougie Hamilton scored just 1:09 after Soderberg. We didnt play a really good game, but as soon as we got that goal we started to get going and I think finished off pretty strong, said Soderberg, who assisted on Erikssons goal with 8:56 left in the third.Soderberg was initially credited with the next two goals, but officials reviewed the video and concluded that Hamiltons slap shot from the point was not deflected in by Soderberg. With a 4-2 lead at that point, the Bruins didnt care much about who got the goal.It doesnt matter. Im just happy it went in the net, Hamilton said. I didnt really look at the goalie. Koufax, whose blazing fastball dominated baseball in the mid-1960s, removed the protective goggles from his eyes and rested his arms on Kershaws broad shoulders. From the franchises old left-handed ace to its current young southpaw, a smiling Koufax looked Kershaw in the eyes and bestowed his congratulations. The Dodgers had advanced to their 10th National League championship series with a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. "To get a hug and get a good job from a guy like that, from a guy thats been there, from a guy thats done this before and was the best at it for a long time is pretty special," Kershaw said. "He genuinely cares about not only this team but kind of our well-being. He cares about us. Thats awesome." The NL West champions open the next round Friday against St. Louis or Pittsburgh. The Cardinals host the wild-card Pirates in a winner-take-all Game 5 on Wednesday. "Weve moved one step closer," said Don Mattingly, managing in the playoffs for the first time. Juan Uribe hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning after Kershaw started on short rest for the Dodgers, who reached the NLCS for the first time since 2009. "It was a special night to get to do it here in L.A.," said Kershaw, his hair slick from the spray of beer and champagne. "We havent won anything yet, but it definitely feels good to get to celebrate. You never want to pass those moments up." Carl Crawford homered his first two times up and the Dodgers won the best-of-five playoff 3-1. "This does not get old. I love the champagne. I love the burning sensation in my eyes," centre fielder Skip Schumaker said. "A lot of these guys have never experienced the moving on to the next round and Im happy for them." Yasiel Puig doubled down the right-field line leading off the eighth against losing pitcher David Carpenter. The rookie charged into second base and pumped his right fist in the air. Fans were on their feet chanting "Lets go Dodgers!" when Uribe fouled off two bunt attempts. Then he sent a hanging 2-2 breaking ball into the Dodgers bullpen in left field to put them in front for the second time. Uribe knew it was gone as soon as he connected. He dropped his bat and threw both arms in the air at home plate. "This moment today Ill never forget," he said. "I think a lot of people feel like that." Meanwhile, it was the latest October flop for Atlanta, which hasnt won a post-season series since 2001. During that stretch, the Braves have lost seven straight playoff series and the 2012 NL wild-card game. "To end the way it did tonight, its going to hurt. Its going to be a long way back," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "But tip your hat to the Dodgers and congratulate Donnie and his staff. The sad thing is there are no more games, you know?" Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless eighth to get the victory. Kenley Jansen struck out all three batters in the ninth for a save, fanning Justin Upton to end it. That set off a raucous celebration on the field by the Dodgers, who rushed toward the mound in a mob. Ellis leaped into each others arms, and a burst of fireworks lit the sky in centre field as blue and silver streamers cascaded from an upper level of the stadium. The Dodgers lined up exchanging hugs in the infield, and co-owners Mark Walter and Magic Johnson grinned watching the revelry among the team they purchased last year. Kershaw, Puig, Wilson and other players jogged around the warning track exchanging high-fives and hand slaps with delirious fans. "They were loud," Kershaw said. "They want it just as much as we do." The Dodgers were criticized for jumping into the ballpark pool in Arizona when they clinched the NL West crown last month. This time, they got to party at home. The Braves took a 3-2 lead in the seventh on pinch-hitter Jose Constanzas RBI single off reliever Ronald Belisario. Needing a win to avoid elimination, Gonzalez never got the ball to lights-out closer Craig Kimbrel. "You dont want it to ever end the way we ended today. But we had the right guy out there. Carp has been good for us," Gonzalez said. "There is nothing to be ashamed of." The Dodgers gambled in bringing back Kershaw on three days rest for the first time in his career. But with a chance to close out the series, they opted for their ace over scheduled starter Ricky Nolasco. The move paid off when the 2011 Cy Young Award winner tossed six solid innings before turning it over to the bullpen. "This is the post-season," Kershaw said. "You just go. Its a one-month sprint and Im looking forward to the next couple games." Kershaw wasted a 2-0 lead, giving up two unearned runs and three hits. He struck out six and walked one on 91 pitches. With one out in the seventh, Elliot Johnson tripled into the right-field corner, sending Puig sliding into the dirt chasing the ball as it caromed off the wall. Constanza, batting for starting pitcher Freddy Garcia, singled into centre to put the NL East champions ahead for the first time. Garcia allowed two runs and eight hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked two. The Braves tied it 2-all in the fourth. Crawfords second homer of the game came in the third, landing deep in the lower right-field seats for a 2-0 lead. Crawford led off the first with a towering home run to the right-field pavilion, smiling broadly as the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead. "The smile on his face when he hit that homer is priceless," Mattingly said. NOTES: The Dodgers lost in five games to Philadelphia four years ago in the NLCS. ... SAN DIEGO -- Kyle Blanks big night became another frustrating one for the Philadelphia Phillies. Alex Iafallo Jersey . Blanks singled home the winning run in the 10th inning for his career-best fourth hit, and the San Diego Padres rallied from a three-run deficit in the ninth to beat Philadelphia 4-3 on Monday. Blanks also had a two-run single and scored the tying run on a passed ball as the Padres fought back against Cliff Lee and struggling closer Jonathan Papelbon. When he came to bat in the 10th, Blanks knew a hit would set his career high. "I kind of had that in the back of my mind," he said. "Its been that kind of elusive game for me. Its always fun to have those and Im looking forward to having a lot more." Looking for his 10th win of the season, Lee took a six-hit shutout into the ninth but lasted only three more pitches. Carlos Quentin led off with a single and went to third when Chase Headley followed with a double that ended Lees night. On came Papelbon, who gave up a two-run single to Blanks on his first pitch. Jesus Guzman was hit by a pitch, but Papelbon had a chance to get out of the jam after Yasmani Grandal grounded into a double play that left Blanks at third. Instead, Blanks scored on a passed ball by catcher Carlos Ruiz. Mark Kotsay swung and missed at a 2-0 pitch, but the ball got past Ruiz and went to the backstop. With a headfirst slide, Blanks just beat Ruizs throw to Papelbon covering the plate. Papelbon had converted all 13 of his save opportunities going into last week, but hes blown four of five attempts since -- several in particularly frustrating fashion. "I dont know what is worse, losing 15-0 or getting beat that way. Either way, its a loss and it doesnt sit well with me," Papelbon said. The Phillies were handed an opportunity to go back ahead in the 10th. Jimmy Rollins led off with a single and Chase Utley flied out to deep centre. But when Chris Denorfia tried to throw the ball back to the infield, it slipped out of his hand and trickled away for an error that allowed Rollins to go all the way to third. Michael Young, however, struck out on three pitches against Luke Gregerson before Joe Thatcher (3-1) retired Domonic Brown on a fly to centre. In the bottom half, Denorfia drew a one-out walk from Justin De Fratus (2-1) and Quentin was hit by a pitch. Headley walked on a full count to load the bases and Blanks singled down the third base line. "He was a guy I hadnt faced before," Blanks said. "I picked a little off the video. PORTLAND, Ore. -- LaMarcus Aldridges big night against the Houston Rockets wasnt about the stats, the All-Star votes or the fans chanting "MVP! MVP!" "This was a we needed a win night for me," said Aldridge, who had 31 points and a career-high 25 rebounds in the Trail Blazers 111-104 victory Thursday. For Aldridge, it was important that Portland (19-4) come away with a win after losing to the Rockets earlier this season -- a rare blip for the Western Conference leaders. It was the first time in franchise history that a Blazers player scored 30 or more points with 25 or more rebounds. "Im blessed," Aldridge said. "(But) I felt tonight, it was needed." Dwight Howard had 32 points and 17 rebounds for the Rockets, who beat the Blazers 116-101 on Nov. 5. That was one of just two losses at home this season for Portland. The Trail Blazers led by 10 early in the fourth quarter, but Chandler Parsons hit a 3-pointer to narrow it to 93-88 with 7:07 left. Houston closed to 97-95 after James Harden made a layup and a free throw with 4:45 to go. Nicolas Batums 3-pointer pushed Portlands lead to 102-95 before Wesley Matthews layup and free throw made it 108-96 with 2:04 left and all but put the game out of reach for the Rockets. "They made some big plays down the stretch," Howard said. "It seemed like every time we would close the gap, they came down and got a great shot. This was big for them." Blazers centre Robin Lopez added 16 points and 10 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season, a career high. Portland was coming off a 105-94 victory in Utah on Monday. The Blazers have scored 100 or more points in 10 consecutive games. Houston had won two straight, including a 98-88 victory over the Orlando Magic on Sunday. The Rockets (15-7) were without Omer Asik, who missed his fourth straight game with a bruised right thigh. Neither side was able to get in front by more than five points in the first half. Portland held a 21-20 lead after the opening quarter. Aldridge was just 1 for 7 from the floor but he had nine rebounds. Houston went ahead 32-28 on Parsons layup and Howards hook shot, and the Rockets led 44-43 at halftime. Neither team shot well, with Portland at 32 per cent and Houston at 36 per cent. The Rockets had just five first-half assists. The Blazers opened the second half with an 11-3 run capped by Matthews 3-pointer to take a 54-47 lead. Portland stretched the lead to 59-49 on Lopezs dunk and free throw. Aldridge got rolling with 11 points and eight rebounds. The Rockets closed the gap to 70-68 late in the third quarter when Howard hit a pair of free throws and dunked. Omri Casspi tied it at 70 on free throws with 2 minutes left. The game was tied going into the fourth quarter, but Portland scored 10 unanswered points to go up 86-76. McDonald adds depth all over the infield and gives AL East-leading Boston an experienced glove for the stretch drive. Because the move was made by the end of August, McDonald is eligible to play for Red Sox in the post-season. The Phillies received minor league right-hander Nefi Ogando in the deal. The 38-year-old McDonald has spent 15 years in the majors. He has played for Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Philadelphia this season, hitting .098 with a homer and four RBIs in 61 at-bats and 45 games. He hit .174 in 21 games with the Phillies. "Sometimes things dont work out," McDonald said after Philadelphias 4-3 loss at the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. "Ive made my way East on every team. I dont know if this is baseballs way of telling something. "Obviously, I wish things had gone better this year. I wish I had swung the bat better. I cant put my finger on why it hasnt happened. In baseball, when you get the opportunity, you have to take advantage of it." The 24-year-old Ogando was 2-3 with a 4.09 ERA and three saves for Class-A Salem this season. Murphy made his season debut Thursday, three days after the birth of son Noah. He called staying in Florida an extra day "the right decision to make" following wife Victorias cesarean section and said "we felt the best thing for our family was for me to stay." He learned Sunday that his wifes water broke, then travelled to Florida and missed Mondays 9-7 opening loss to Washington and Wednesday nights 5-1 defeat. He said his son was born at 12:02 p.m. Monday. Major league rules allow up to three days of paternity leave, and WFAN broadcaster Mike Francesa said on the air Wednesday that Murphy should not have skipped the second game. "One day I understand. And in the old days they didnt do that," Francesa said. "But one day, go see the baby be born and come back. Youre a Major League Baseball player. You can hire a nurse to take care of the baby if your wife needs help." A day later, Collins bristled after learning of the comments. "If youre accusing Dan Murphy of not wanting to play -- this guy played 161 games last year, wore himself out, played through all soorts of discomfort," he said. Ken Boyer Jersey. "You know, the man had his first child. Hes allowed to be there. The rules state that he can be there, so he went. Theres nothing against it. Theres nothing wrong with it. You know, he missed two games. Its not like hes missed 10. You know, when you start attacking Dan Murphys credibility, you need to look in the mirror a little bit." Murphy said he received text messages about the criticism. He was applauded before his first at-bat, singled and scored the Mets first run against the Nationals. He said his son was named after the Biblical character Noah, not for Mets teammate Noah Syndergaard. "People are going to say you named him after the monstrosity that throws like 1,000 miles an hour," Murphy said. "We didnt. Noah came from Noahs Ark. Peace and rest is what it means." Baby Noah kept his parents awake at 3 a.m. Wednesday. "We had our first panic session. It was dark. She tried to change a diaper, couldnt do it. I came in," he said. "It was just the three of us, 3 oclock in the morning, all freaking out. He was the only one screaming. I wanted to." OXFORD, Miss. Alex Bregman Astros Jersey . -- The Missouri Tigers might not have a roster full of superstars. But as a collective theyre an awfully tough bunch to beat, and the Tigers are now one victory away from playing for a Southeastern Conference championship in just their second season in the league. Henry Josey rushed for two touchdowns, Marcus Murphy added another and No. 8 Missouri rolled to a 24-10 victory over No. 24 Mississippi on Saturday night. "To say Im proud of my football team and my staff would be an understatement," Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said. "They battle every time they play. They prepare well and focus at a very high level." The Tigers strolled into a hostile environment at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and never flinched, jumping out to a 17-3 lead by halftime for the relatively easy victory. Now the big one awaits for the Tigers (10-1, 6-1 Southeastern Conference). The Tigers host Texas A&M next weekend, with a win clinching the SECs East Division title. James Franklin completed 12 of 19 passes for 142 yards and an interception in his first start since a shoulder injury caused him to miss four games. "I thought he did an outstanding job," Pinkel said. "The guy hadnt played in six weeks and there was a lot of pressure on him to play well." The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Ole Miss (7-4, 3-4). Bo Wallace threw for 244 yards and an interception, but was battling an illness for much of the game and struggled during the second half. Donte Moncrief caught six passes for 115 yards, but dropped what would have been a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Ole Miss made three trips to the red zone, but managed just three points. "Its impossible to beat a top 10 team when you get in the red zone and dont score touchdowns or points," Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said. "... If you dont score some points in the red zone against that team you arent going to win." Its the fourth 10-win season for Missouri in the past seven years and was coach Gary Pinkels 100th win with the Tigers. The Tigers used a deep running back rotation to slowly wear down the Ole Miss defence. Josey had most of the big plays, but Russell Hansbrough and Murphy combined for 99 more yards, helping Missouri shorten the game in the second half with time-consuming drives. Missouri jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter after a blistering eight-play, 72-yard drive that took less than three minutes. Andrew Baggett added a 33-yard field goal and Murphy scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter as the Tigers took a 17-3 halftime lead. The Tigers finished with 485 total yards, including 260 on the ground. "Were just a focused team," Missouri linebacker Andrew Wilson said. "The coaches did a good job keeping us focused. We had a great gameplan. We knew what we had to do." Franklin -- making his first start since suffering a shoulder injury Oct. 12 -- completed 7 of 7 passes for 89 yards in the first half. The Ole Miss offence had a few opportunities to match Missouri, but kept blowing opportunities in the red zone. The litany of errors included two false start penalties, one blocked field goal attempt and several unsuccessful running plays. But the Rebels regrouped in the third quarter, pulling within 17-10 on the opening drive of the second half on ITavius Mathers 45-yard run. The sophomore bounced off a few would-be tacklers and then dashed down the left sideline, outrunning a pair of Mizzou defenders into the end zone. The momentum was short lived. Missouri responded with an 86-yard touchdown drive that ended on Joseys second touchdown of the night and the Tigers had a 24-10 lead. Bo Wallace completed 20 of 28 passes for 172 yards and an interception in the first half, but didnt start the second half because he was sick. Wallace and backup Barry Brunetti split snaps in the second half, but neither had much success. Moncrief had a productive night, but his dropped pass in the end zone was a microcosm of the Rebels frustrating night. Ole Miss could have cut Missouris lead to 24-17 with eight minutes remaining, but instead turned the ball over on downs one play later and Missouri went on to its third straight victory. It wasnt pretty, but it was effective.Nazem Kadri added a goal and an assist and David Clarkson also scored for the Maple Leafs, who are 3-0-1 on the road and 2-4-0 at home. Its fun to see back-to-back games with a great effort, Bernier said, referring also to his 4-0 shutout victory over Buffalo on Tuesday. We had that in the last two.Kessel punched in a shot that went to video review before it was confirmed. Clarkson redirected a pass from Dion Phaneuf on the power play, and Kadri finished a 2-on-1 feed from Kessel in the third. Winnik scored his 50th NHL goal late in his 500th career game.If you wanted to write up how a 500th game is supposed to go, tonight is (it), Winnik said. After a 10-minute review, Kessel was awarded his goal in the first. He was at the left doorstep after shots by Winnik and Kadri were deflected by goalie Curtis McElhenny. Kessels shot off a rebound was deflected off the right skate of Columbus defenceman Fedor Tyutin, who had come in behind McElhenny. The review showed the puck briefly crossed the goal line before ricocheting out off Tyutins blade.A large contingent of Toronto fans in the crowd of 14,479 chanted Lets go, Leafs! several times during the game.Shortly after Columbus Jack Johnsoon — also playing his 500th game — went off for interference, Phaneufs drive from the point was redirected by Clarkson for his third of the season. Clarkson had his stick straight out at waist height and deflected the puck down and past a helpless McElhenny.Kessel then carried the puck down the right wing early in the third, making a late feed behind the defenceman for a jam shot by Kadri. Its nice to get some puck luck and a couple of bounces here and there, Kadri said. Thats what happens when you play the right way and you stay with it.Cam Atkinson scored and Ryan Johansen had an assist to set a Columbus record with his 10-game point streak to start the season. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Blue Jackets.Bernier lost his shutout midway through the third period when he stopped Johansens drive from the right circle but lost track of the puck, which was underneath him. Atkinson chopped it into the net for his fifth goal. The Blue Jackets have been hurt by a scourge of injuries. They were without eight players, including forwards Nathan Horton (back), Boone Jenner (broken hand), Brandon Dubinsky (abdominal surgery), Matt Calvert (upper body), Artem Anisimov (concussion), Mark Letestu (groin), goalie Sergei Bobrovsky (broken finger) and top offensive defenceman James Wisniewski (broken finger). For guys being called up and the second, third and fourth lines being jumped around a little bit, its tough for them, Johansen said. The 23-year-old Phatlum, winless in five seasons on the LPGA Tour, had 10 birdies and two bogeys in her afternoon round at rain-softened Columbia Edgewater. The start of play was delayed an hour, and players were allowed to lift, clean and place their golf balls because of the wet conditions. The 18-year-old Thompson eagled the par-5 seventh hole -- her 16th hole of the day -- and had five birdies in her bogey-free morning round. She won the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic for her lone tour title. "I would say just my iron shots into the green," Thompson said about her strongest play Thursday. "I hit a lot of good ones and I played the par 5s 4 under, so I took advantage of those. Overall, Ive just been working on the consistency of my game and working on tightening my shots up." MIAMI -- For the first time in a while, Jacob Turner pitched like the pitcher the Marlins believe he can be. Patrick Beverley Jersey . He even got a win for it. Turner won for the first time in 18 starts, pitching 6 1-3 scoreless innings to help the Miami Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 on Saturday. "I hope it reaffirms the fact of how good of stuff that he has and that he can pitch and win at this level," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. It was the best outing of the season for Turner (1-2). He struck out two and walked one while allowing eight hits. It was only the second time in six starts this season that the 23-year old former first-round draft pick has not allowed at least four runs. "I feel like Ive been pitching well the last three or four times out," Turner said. "The results are the results, but Im feeling confident out there and I feel like each time out Im getting better." Turners last win was on July 10, 2013, against Atlanta. He had lost nine consecutive decisions. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jeff Baker drove in the runs for the Marlins, who have won three of four. Steve Cishek recorded the final four outs for his 10th save in 11 chances. Brewers starter Wily Peralta (4-4) allowed one run and six hits in six innings. "It was a tough loss," Peralta said. "When you pitch like that you want to win." Milwaukees Ryan Braun was in the lineup after missing Fridays game with tightness in his right side and went 1 for 4. A day after the teams combined for a Marlins Park-record seven home runs, runs were scarce. "After last nights game where the ball was flying out of here--thats the beauty of baseball, you come out here and its a 2-1 game, every out is big, every at-bat is a big at-bat," Redmond said. Carlos Gomez, who had a pair of hits for the Brewers and is 9 for 14 in his last three games, was thrown out at third base to end the sixth inning when trying to advance from first on a base hit by Mark Reynolds. Braun was on his way to score easily from second, but left fielder Christian Yelichs throw to third got Gomez before Braun crossed home plate preserving a 1-0 lead for the Marlins. "I knew there wasnt going to be any play at home and I knew Gomez was pretty aggressive on the bases," Yelich said. "...I decided to make a throw at third and see what happened and I ended up getting him before the run scored." Home plate umpire Brian ONora immediately called off the run and took 40 seconds to review the play, which was upheld. "A perfect throw," Redmond said. The Marlins scored in the bottom of the seventh for a 2-0 lead when Adeiny Hechavarria led off with a base hit, stole second, and then scored on a base hit by Baker. Jonathan Lucroys RBI double off the right-field wall in the eighth cut the deficit to 2-1. Gomez struck out on a ball in the dirt, but reached second base on Saltalamacchias errant throw down to first base. With runners on second and third, Cishek came on to strike out Scooter Gennett to end the inning. "It was the perfect time to bring him in and he did a great job," Redmond said. Cishek allowed a two-out infield hit to Elian Herrera in the ninth before striking out Jean Segura for the final out. "We got some hits today," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "We didnt get them until a little bit later on, but we did get some hits and we had base runners. We had a couple of chances; we missed the one with Gomie when he was thrown out. We didnt score on that so that hurt obviously." Saltalamacchia provided the Marlins first run with an RBI double in the second inning scoring Casey McGehee. It all added up to two jarring losses for the Chicago White Sox and one long, crushing doubleheader sweep. Nick Swisher ripped a long solo homer to cap a four-run ninth inning against Addison Reed Friday night, lifting the Cleveland Indians to a 9-8 victory over the White Sox for a sweep of the longest doubleheader by time for two nine-inning games. After pounding Chicago 19-10 in the opener in a game that lasted 4 hours, 2 minutes, the Indians came through in the end to take a nightcap that ran 3:51. The 7:53 total made it the longest doubleheader with two nine-inning games on record, but the marathon came to an end after Swisher delivered a crushing blow. Throw in 63 minutes between games -- a 38-minute break, and, get this, a 25-minute rain delay -- and thats one long night at the ballpark. "It seems like a break here and there obviously doesnt go our way. Or when things like this happen, youre devastated about it," White Sox slugger Adam Dunn said. Reed (3-1) entered with an 8-5 lead in the ninth but quickly ran into trouble, blowing his fourth save in 25 chances. "They did everything they could to get the ball in my hands," Reed said. "I wanted nothing more than to close that game out and get the win tonight." He started the inning by giving up three straight singles to Ryan Raburn, pinch-hitter Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Bourn to make it a two-run game. He then threw a wild pitch to pinch-hitter Jason Giambi, allowing Cabrera to score. Jason Kipnis then tied it with a sacrifice fly to centre field, driving in Bourn, and Swisher drilled a 3-2 pitch well into the seats in right to put Cleveland ahead. "When youve got a closer throwing that hard, man, all you got to do is just try and find the barrel, man, and hell provide a lot of the power," Swisher said. The late rally made a winner of Matt Langwell (1-0), who got his first career win even though he allowed two runs in the eighth. Vinnie Pestano walked Wells with one out in the ninth but struck out three for his sixth save in eight chances, finishing a game that ended just after 1 a.m. Alejandro De Aza had three hits and scored four runs in the second game for Chicago. Clevelands Carlos Carrasco allowed six runs and 10 hits in 5 2-3 and saw his ERA rise from 7.78 to 8.17. But in the end, it was the Indians handing the White Sox another brutal loss. In the opener, Jason Kipnis reached base six times and scored four runs, while Ryan Raburn homered and drove in four. The Indians matched a season high for runs. They also set a season best with eight doubles while falling one hit shy of their most hits, 21. Yet despite all that, Cleveland had to dig itself out of a five-run hole after the first inning and hang on after a nine-run lead dwindled to four. Raburn gave the Indians some breathing room with a two-run drive off Ramon Troncoso in the seventh, making it 16-10. He also had a two-run single to break a 5-all tie in the fourth and spark a six-run rally. Kipnis, who grew up in suburban Northbrook, Ill., extended his hitting streak to 10 and reached safely in his 30th straight game. He had three doubles, drove in two runs, and the only out he made was when Alejandro De Aza ran down his line drive to left in the ninth. Then, in Game 2, the Indians somehow pulled one out in the end. "To kick and scratch and fight," Giambi said. "We just kept going and going and going." PITTSBURGH -- Russell Martin has played long enough to realize that games in early June are rarely pivotal. Yet the Pirates veteran catcher admitted that Friday nights win felt good as Pittsburgh tries to stay with striking distance of the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central. Martin had three hits, including a three-run double during an eight-run sixth inning, and the Pirates rolled to a 15-5 victory over the Brewers, handing nemesis Kyle Lohse his first loss since April 1. The Pirates still trail the Brewers by six games, primarily because they have gone 3-8 against Milwaukee this season. The win was Pittsburghs sixth in its last eight games. "Anytime in the season where you can just feed off each other like that, its going to be a fun time," Martin said. "Especially against a team that were trailing right now. If you can beat up on a good team, it definitely does give you confidence." Martins double keyed an inning that increased Pittsburghs lead to 13-3 and included Jose Tabata hitting two RBI singles and reliever Tyler Thornburg issuing two bases-loaded walks. The Pirates sent 13 batters to the plate. "We were able to barrel some balls and we took some walks," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. "The hits were nice, the walks were kind of runaway walks. Not many pitches were close in the walk sequence, it is what it is." Lohse (7-2) had won seven consecutive decisions, the longest active streak in the major leagues, but was tagged for eight runs and nine hits in five-plus innings. He had won his last six decisions against the Pirates, dating to 2011, and pitched a three-hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs five days earlier. "I could go inning by inning about everything that went wrong but it was just one of those games where they hit good pitches and they hit bad pitches," Lohse said. "The best thing to do is forget about it and get ready for the nextt one. Custom Boston Red Sox Jerseys. Thats the approach I took after I threw the shutout and thats the approach this time." "I really just put my head down and got back to work after that last start," Cumpton said. "I was just trusting my stuff and know its going to be there. It was great to get out there and get back on the horse." Andrew McCutchen homered and doubled for the Pirates while Jordy Mercer homered and hit an RBI single. Carlos Gomez, Aramis Ramirez and Scooter Gennett all had two hits for the Brewers. McCutchen doubled in a run and scored on Martins single in the first inning as the Pirates jumped on Lohse early. McCutchens seventh homer, a solo shot in the third, made it 3-0. NOTES: Pittsburgh LF Starling Marte, who is hitless in his last 20 at-bats, did not start for a third straight game.
